$6,000 To Support Our Neighbors
Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County to Join in Lake County Fire Victims Relief Efforts
The CAP Champions – Donor Appreciation Breakfast fundraiser hosted at John Ash last Friday, September 18th was a huge success, with over 150 community leaders and members in attendance. Representatives from every level of government, business and non-profit leaders from every area of the County were in attendance. Together we were able to raise over $30,000 at the breakfast event with the help of the always enthusiastic and energetic Senator Mike McGuire. This allowed CAP Sonoma and Champions to donate a whopping $6,000 to the Lake County Fire Victims Relief Fund!
CAP Sonoma had been planning this event since March, 2015 and when we heard of the fires destruction that was occurring in our neighboring county, the organizations leaders had a conversation and believed that the right thing to do was help. With no hesitation and a unanimous decision we decided to support and donate 20% of what we raised at their first ever CAP Champions – Donor Appreciation Breakfast fundraiser to the Lake County Fire Victims Fund! The Board of Directors and staff of Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County are joining efforts with State Senator Mike McGuire, Redwood Credit Union, The Press Democrat, and other community partners in support of relief efforts to help our neighbors who have suffered loss due to the fires.
Board President, Jamie Padilla said, “Of course we have to help. We are Community Action”. Executive Director Tim Reese agrees; “This is the right thing to do. It is a part of our philosophy of helping people and changing lives. Those affected by the fires need our help now.” Senator Mike McGuire will be leading the efforts to rally support as our “auctioneer” at Friday’s fundraiser at the wonderful John Ash events center. Development Committee Chair, Maria Pappas declared, “This is an opportunity where we must act as a community leader and join the effort to help Lake County fire victims.”
CAP Sonoma’s thoughts and prayers are with the fire victims, the courageous firefighters, the families, and all those impacted by this terrible fire. Thank you for coming together to help support our neighboring County, and living by our motto: “Helping People. Changing Lives.”
