Julie Kawahara (Assistant Director of Training and Technical Assistance)  jkawahara@capsonoma.org (707) 544-6911 x1092

Julie has over 20 years of program and organizational development experience with a variety of health and human services public and non-profit programs.  She is the manager for the Community Capacity Building Initiative, leading the team in providing financial assistance, relevant training and customized technical assistance to Sonoma County non-profits.  Her humble beginnings as a community health educator (University of Illinois) started at a non-profit in San Francisco and with the San Francisco Health Department.

Vera has over 20 years of experience in coordination and office management in education, as well as the public and private sectors. Her duties include coordination of training and technical assistance provided to grantees, administrative support to the Assistant Director and the CCB Team, and customer service to clients. Vera has a B.A. from Notre Dame de Namur University and speaks four languages.

Kate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Golden Gate University and has an extensive background in accounting for governmental units, non-profit organizations and for-profit entities as well as the utilization of varied financial software applications.  She is responsible for the CCB outcome monitoring as well as providing financial consulting through the Technical Assistance component of the grant.  

Ellena (Scotty) Baney (IT Manager – Database & Web Applications Focus)  ccbgstaff@capsonoma.org

Scotty serves as Community Action’s Network Administrator. She holds AS, BS & MS in Computer Science. She is experienced in network administration, programming, database and web applications.  She provides IT consulting through the Technical Assistance area of the grant.  

Dave Hayes  (IT Assistant – Hardware & Networking Focus) ccbgstaff@capsonoma.org  (707) 480-0840

Dave is a Microsoft Certified System Administrator with over a decade of experience maintaining computer workstations in an enterprise environment. He is also an IT Instructor at a local college. Dave assists the CCB staff in technology related aspects of the CCB grants.

Hazel is the volunteer coordinator for Community Action Partnership and supports the CCB team with volunteers, training and community relations. She has over 30 years’ experience in television, public relations, education and politics. She worked in television in England and New Zealand, taught in Hong Kong and Washington DC, was a writer/editor at Lawrence Livermore Laboratories, and served as Chief Press Secretary to a former Prime Minister of New Zealand. She has spent the last 10 years working in the nonprofit world.

Edwin’s personal mission is to do what he can to help non-profits become results-driven, learning organizations that achieve measureable results for the clients and communities they serve. He brings to this work over 20 years of organizational development experience as a consultant and as staff for a diverse set of community-based organizations, public agencies, and K-12 and higher education institutions. Most recently he was Program and Evaluation Manager for First 5 Sonoma County. He provides planning and research support to the Community Capacity Building team and is currently facilitating strategic planning work with the Agency’s board and management team. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Edwin spends his free time painting landscapes, playing tennis, and rooting for the Yankees. He is the father of three children.
