To assist in the implementation and monitoring of Head Start/Early Head Start services, providing compliance with Head start/EHS performance standards and the current work plans. Assist in ensuring compliance with ACF Performance Standards for Children's Services

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Develop system for and maintain support as the on the job trainer/ mentor for staff.
  • Participate in the program Monitoring system.
  • As directed, supports and monitors program compliance through site observations and feedback. Provides training to staff on systems and procedures, as needed.

Requirements

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist teaching staff in planning and implementing routines for infants and toddlers; assist with food service in the center; assist in communication with non English speaking families.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Assist with special and on-going projects relevant to classroom activities.

  • Assist in communication with non English speaking families, including but not limited to, classroom activities and home visits.

  • Serve as a classroom substitute on an emergency basis and cover breaks for other staff as needed.

  • Promote good health and nutrition and provide an environment that contributes to the prevention of illness; share in daily cleaning and sanitizing procedures.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Will become familiar with all aspects of the Head Start program including Performance Standards, service area plans, and all program policies; must have an awareness of the philosophy and goals of the program in order to help parents become advocates for their children.
  • Maintain year-round recruitment and enrollment activities toward the goal of full enrollment; complete and maintain documents for enrolling children.
  • Provide transportation as needed, i.e.: taking children to medical screenings, returning sick children to their homes. · Maintain current and accurate records as required by the program and ensure their confidentiality.
  • Maintain an ongoing awareness of component activities at the center (including parent activities, parent involvement, nutrition and health activities) in order to better assess the needs of the children and families to insure the most appropriate recommendations for follow-up.
  • Coordinate with teacher for follow-up on children's attendance. · Support and serve as a resource to the family and work with them in assessing their strengths, interests, and needs, following the program systems and timelines.
  • Conduct home visits to enrolled families to maintain ongoing communication for family development.
  • Insure that parents know of current community resources and resources available in Head Start; refer parents to agencies for assistance and provide follow-up to assess effectiveness. · Provide training and education to families in using available resources and services.
  • Be responsible for monthly parent meetings/trainings and translation when needed.
  • Be involved in community outreach by attending community agency meetings in order to make them aware of Head Start families' needs; advocate to obtain needed services.
