Elisabeth Chicoine, Director of Health Programs

Elisabeth has always worked for nonprofit agencies.  She began working with CAPSC by answering an ad for a nurse position.  She reports that it "felt a like perfect fit."  According to Elisabeth, she has two major roles.  One is to to see a certain standard of health care provided by the Children's Health Center.  The second is integrating health throughout CAPSC's many programs as well as various other community programs.

In 1999, California's former First Lady Sharon Davis (seen below) and Assembly member Pat Wiggins visited our center to applaud the efforts of CAP Sonoma and Roseland Elementary School on behalf of low income children.

The Children's Health Center, combined with CAP Sonoma's Head Start program, provides nutritional guidance, pediatric physical and dental care services to over 2,000 children annually, and assistance to families in obtaining health insurance for their children.

¥ Family Advocates, located at Southwest Santa Rosa Schools, provide low-income families in crisis with one-on-one assistance and case-managed support services.

¥ CAP Sonoma also administers a School Nurse Program that places nurses in eight elementary schools located in low-income neighborhoods. The nurses provide State mandated health screenings and are a health resource to children, their parents and school staff.
