HIPAA Compliance Program

As part of Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County’s commitment to health information privacy compliance, and in an effort to assist our personnel in meeting their compliance obligations, we have established a formal HIPAA Compliance Program.  Our Compliance Program, which draws upon and complements many of our existing practices and procedures, has the following components:

bullet

The appointment of Privacy and Security Officer(s) who will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining the HIPAA Compliance Program. In addition, we have also created a HIPAA Compliance Committee to assist the Privacy Officer in executing her duties.

bullet

We plan to continue to develop detailed policies and procedures to institutionalize HIPAA Compliance.

We will provide all appropriate employees with compliance education and training, both through formal periodic training seminars and by maintaining an open line of communication between our employees and the HIPAA Compliance Committee.

While awaiting the guidance of the final HIPAA Security Regulations, we will continue to utilize a combination of physical, administrative, and technical safeguards to protect the security of confidential health information. All of our services and our central Information Technology room is physically safeguarded with a locked door accessed only authorized personnel. All data is routinely backed up and stored in a controlled secured facility. Access to data on the system is password protected and provided only on an as-needed basis based on job function. Access by users is routinely monitored.

For more information regarding HIPAA Compliance please feel free to contact our HIPAA officers.
