Love Kids? Then we need you!

Child Care

Many of our clients are working hard to climb out of poverty. Often, they are unable to attend parenting, financial management, and job development classes because they have no-one to care for their children. We need childcare volunteers for Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at our women’s transitional center while residents attend required classes, and at other scheduled times for classes throughout the year.

Head Start Centers in Cloverdale, Windsor, Healdsburg, Guerneville, Sonoma, Petaluma, Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa provide over 500 low-income and special needs pre-school children with a comprehensive child development program. If you are able to spend an hour, a day, or a week working in the classrooms, your help will be truly appreciated and you will enjoy every minute!

Mentoring

Project Safe South Park Youth Center in Martin Luther King Jr. Park, Santa Rosa, is a community-based mentoring center that works with youth aged 8 to 16. Mentors make the after-school experience worthwhile for these young people.  You can make a difference in their lives by volunteering.

YouthBuild Santa Rosa Mentoring Component Program is looking for mentors to help guide young people aged 16 to 24 to complete their Individual Life Plan, work on service projects, and develop a relationship that will help support them throughout their lives.

Project Safe Mentoring Program currently takes place in two elementary schools and two middle schools in Santa Rosa. The program offers volunteers the opportunity to mentor a student in a one-on-one relationship, meeting weekly for a minimum of one year at each school site. Share what you know. There is a young person waiting for a friend and mentor like you!

Sloan House Women’s Shelter: if you have love of art, music, knitting or sewing why not share your skills with the women of Sloan House or just sit at the table, play board games and chat for a while. Help is also needed at the shelter with office administration and the support of qualified counselors would be a great help.

Help the Hungry

Volunteers are needed to help those in need of food stamps to fill out application forms.  Hours can be arranged to suit your schedule. Just a few minutes of your time will make a huge difference to the lives of those in need.  Bilingual is a plus.
