Join us in creating a safer, healthier and more prosperous Sonoma County
There are many ways you can make a difference in our community:
- Become a volunteer or intern.
- Join one of our committees – help shape community action.
- Learn about our programs and become a Community Action Ambassador.
- Support our events.
Many of our clients are working hard to climb out of poverty. Often, they are unable to attend parenting, financial management, and job development classes because they have no one to care for their children. We need childcare volunteers for Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at our women’s transitional center while residents attend required classes. Child care is also needed at other times throughout the year.
Head Start Centers in Cloverdale, Windsor, Healdsburg, Guerneville, Sonoma, Petaluma, Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa provide over 500 low-income and special needs pre-school children with a comprehensive child development program. If you are able to spend an hour, a day, or a week working in the classrooms, your help will be truly appreciated and you will enjoy every minute!
Sloan House Women’s Shelter
If you have love of art, music, knitting or sewing why not share your skills with the women of Sloan House or just sit at the table, play board games and chat for a while. Help is also needed at the shelter with office administration and the support of qualified counselors would be a great help.
