Community Garden Network
The Community Garden Network of Sonoma County (CGN) is a program of Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County. CGN works to connect and strengthen Sonoma County’s community gardens in order to promote food access, healthy eating, stronger communities, and a thriving local food system.
Although Sonoma County is home at least 90 community gardens, many of these gardens have been challenged by lack of connection to one another, and by insufficient resources, gardening experience, leadership, community engagement, funding, information, or other critical factors. CGN’s approach to this situation is three-fold:
- We are building a strong network of gardens for unified knowledge- and resource-sharing, partnership, and strength in numbers.
- We provide access to gardening and leadership training, technical assistance, fund development, donated materials, Spanish translation, and other services.
- Finally, we facilitate public awareness, education, and support of community gardening opportunities.
