V.I.T.A. Free Tax Assistance program happening now for 2018!
Sonoma County is home to many low-income families that cannot afford professional tax preparation, which can become a disadvantage for filing and receiving personal tax refunds. The VITA tax assistance program helps over 1000 individuals and families households each year with FREE tax assistance, and preserved $1.6M in our local economy last year.
VITA is a tax assistance program in partnership with United Way’s Earn It! Keep It! Save It! program. The program is offered from January 29- April 29, 2018 at the Community Action offices and requires advance registration. The workshop takes just a few hours to complete, and our staff and volunteers are with you 100% of the tax filing journey.
VITA will be offering its services to the public Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm, and Saturdays from 9am-1pm. We expect to be serving over 20 families a day for the duration.
If you’d like to volunteer as an assistant tax preparer, there is a wonderful easy training. We would be so happy to have you onboard, even if you can only offer a few shifts between now- April 29th.
