“We cannot end the war on poverty until we end the war on racism”
– Community Action Partnership
In 1964, Community Action Partnership was founded on the belief that ALL people deserved social and economic equity. It is now 2020, and while some progress has been made, it is simply not enough. It is time to deeply reflect on our biases, ask the hard questions, and re-evaluate policies that are unfair to the poor and people of color. Our agency fully supports and stands in solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
It is time for change.
We are recommitting ourselves to our original fight, the fight to end racism.
Starting immediately, we will:
- Begin the series “Community Conversations on Race”. Each week, beginning Monday, June 15th, we will be hosting a series of discussions on Facebook LIVE from 5:30-6:00pm. We invite you to join us as we focus on different topics, host a variety of guests and work together to take action.
- Fast-track our agency’s future goal to re-energize the advocacy efforts of our Board of Directors and staff to make a difference in local policies that inhibit our community’s social and economic mobility.
- Join our National Community Action Network to leverage resources, support our national legislation to forward our mission of creating generational change.
Please follow us on our social media platforms at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and join our mailing list. We are all in this TOGETHER!
In solidarity,
The Entire CAP Sonoma Team
